Welcome to the website of the CSR in Germany!
The number of enterprises which assume social responsibility and integrate voluntary social commitment in their corporate strategy is constantly growing in Germany. The Federal Government wishes to promote this social responsibility. The new Internet page provides information on fundamental aspects of CSR, international guidelines and tools, as well as on the areas of action and activities of the Federal Government in this context. www.csr-in-deutschland.de is a further step towards developing a national CSR Strategy.
On 15 July 2009 the Federal Cabinet has approved the "Interim Report on the Development of a National CSR-Strategy" tabled by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. The National CSR-Strategy is to lead to the adoption of an "Action Plan: CSR in Germany" in early 2010.
On 20 January 2009, the German Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs set up a forum on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The forum consists of about 40 representatives from the business community, civil society, trade unions, academia and policy-making and will give advice and support to the German Federal Government in the development of a national CSR strategy. The purpose of a national CSR strategy is to promote a sustainable corporate management and help to shape the social and ecological dimensions of globalisation.
The present study "Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) between market and politics" discusses the current CSR debate and provides recommendations as for the approach, the fields of action and development process of a national CSR-strategy as currently developed by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS).
350 individuals from Germany and other countries discussed the social responsibility of enterprises (Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR) on 29 and 30 April. The Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs is responsible for this area within the Federal Government, and hosted the conference entitled "Corporate Responsibility - A Net Gain for All".
