Fields of action
The areas in which enterprises shoulder social responsibility range between environmental protection via innovative workplace design, to respect for human rights. Transparency is a vital foundation for all these fields of action. Current questions and the commitment of the individual specialist Ministries are described in the four thematic sections entitled "Good Work", "Consumer information", "Environment" and "Globalisation".
If enterprises shoulder social responsibility, this also applies to the way they treat their own staff. Reconciling family and work, promoting diversity and giving the young and old an opportunity is a gain for society and for the enterprise itself.
It is good that more and more consumers want to know under what conditions a product was produced or how an enterprise works. Various quality seals and initiatives provide an orientation and promote competition between the enterprises.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contains both a social and an ecological component. Sustainable business conduct and environmental management are the relevant criteria for enterprises' ecological responsibility.
Fair trade improves workers' living conditions, in particular in developing countries. For this reason, entrepreneurial action with development policy relevance will come more closely into focus.
