By implementing the UN Guiding Principles for Business and Human Rights, the NAP aims to improve the human rights situation along the supply and value chains in Germany and worldwide.

Next steps

From 2018 to 2020, the implementation status of human rights due diligence by companies will be evaluated as part of a monitoring process. The NAP monitoring is the first and only measure of its kind in the world to date.

Development of the Action Plan

Since 2014, actors from business, politics, civil society, and academia have been involved in the development of the National Action Plan for Business and Human Rights.

Human rights and business enterprises

Every company that operates internationally acts in the economic and social context of the respective production site and has an influence on the local conditions. Corporate activities can have a direct and indirect impact on human rights. Companies therefore have a responsibility to ensure that human rights are respected.
