Commitment of the Federal Government to the protection of human rights

Discussion at a digital global map.

The state's duty to protect

States must guarantee protection against human rights violations in their territory. States are thus also obliged to demand the compliance with human rights on the part of business enterprises.

Activities of the Federal Government

The Federal Government will strengthen sustainability issues such as human rights due diligence in public procurement, in the promotion of enterprises and in publicly owned enterprises.

From 2018 to 2020, the implementation status of human rights due diligence by companies will be evaluated as part of a monitoring process. The NAP monitoring is the first and only measure of its kind in the world to date.
