State Secretary Tschan and energy sector representatives discuss human rights risks

State Secretary Lilian Tschan met with the Energy Sector Dialogue participants at the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs on 13 September 2023. The participants have taken an in-depth look at human rights risks in the supply chains of the German energy industry. The result is a publication outlining the potential human rights risks in six selected industry sections.

On the 20th of February, the "World Day of Social Justice", Federal Development Minister Svenja Schulze and Federal Labour Minister Hubertus Heil started their journey to visit some of the people whose work comes at the start of global supply chains.

In a globalized economy it takes a European strategy to protect human rights and the environment in supply and value chains effectively. On 1 December 2022, the Council determined its negotiating position ("general approach") regarding the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD).

Supply Chain Conference

As part of Germany’s G7 Presidency, the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs hosted a digital conference on sustainable value chains on 6 May 2022. The aim has been to give new impulses to the international debate on a binding standard in the field of business and human rights.
