Sector dialogues
To help implement Germany’s National Action Plan for Business and Human Rights (NAP), the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs organises sector dialogues. These dialogues offer guidance to enterprises operating in sectors with particular human rights challenges, and support their efforts to implement the NAP’s human rights due diligence requirements. This enables enterprises to help improve human rights in global supply and value chains.
In a multi-stakeholder setting, the sector dialogues develop and implement recommendations and collective measures for fair value creation. The process is coordinated by a secretariat at GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit).

About the dialogues
Organised by the Federal Government, the sector dialogues support the implementation of Germany’s National Action Plan for Business and Human Rights (NAP). They are designed to improve human rights in global supply and value chains, and help enterprises find appropriate ways of implementing the NAP’s human rights due diligence requirements.
Cross-sector conferences and online seminars
In addition to the sector dialogues, the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS) organises cross-sector events. The online seminars and conference formats enable knowledge exchange, networking and capacity building across sectors.
Setting up the dialogues
The basis for the success of the dialogues is a transparent and participatory development process. The Federal Government involves relevant stakeholders in the development process through various committees and event formats.
