Five Years of Sector Dialogue Automotive Industry
The sector dialogue is a multi-stakeholder forum comprising representatives of the automotive industry and civil society that have expertise on human rights risks in automotive supply and value chains.
The publication “Five Years of Sector Dialogue Automotive Industry” highlights the learnings from a multi-stakeholder forum for fair supply chains from 2020 to 2025. It shows how German companies are taking responsibility, respecting human rights along their global value chains, and jointly developing and implementing good practices for due diligence.

Since 2020, representatives of German car manufacturers, suppliers, business associations, NGOs, trade unions, the German Institute for Human Rights and the Federal Government have been working together in the sector dialogue automotive industry.
Dialogue agreement
By drafting and signing a dialogue agreement, all stakeholders committed themselves to improving the human rights situation along the global supply and value chains of the German automotive industry.
During the phase overseen by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, the Dialogue Agreement and the Working Basis were the key reference documents.
Numerous other stakeholders contribute specific regional and technical expertise to the sector dialogue as and when required. These include representatives of federal ministries and agencies, national and international trade unions and trade union confederations, NGOs, embassies, research institutes, suppliers from other sectors and local rights holders.
